Urban League at Colleges & Universities
The Urban League at Colleges and Universities is a collaborative network currently consisting of chapters at Norfolk State University (NSU) and Old Dominion University (ODU). These chapters are dedicated to empowering students through professional development, civic engagement, and community service, while promoting the mission of the Urban League of Hampton Roads. Through mentorship, service projects, and networking opportunities, students gain valuable experiences that enhance their academic and career pathways.
Site Locations
Located in Norfolk, VA, the NSU chapter plays a significant role in supporting the local community through advocacy and educational programs
Both chapters work to empower to empower their members so their members can empower the community at-large. Both are also in close collaboration with the Urban League of Hampton Roads to extend the organization’s outreach and services into the university setting.
What We Do
The Urban League at Colleges and Universities has a strong track record of impactful initiatives, including:
Hosting voter registration drives to increase student involvement in civic processes.
Collaborating with local high schools to provide mentorship and educational support, including a recent college tour for youth from Heritage High School.
Partnering with professional organizations to offer networking and career development events for students.
Organizing community service projects that address key issues such as education, health, and economic empowerment.
