Job Summary: This position is a grant-funded role and is contingent upon continued funding availability. The Part-Time Career Engagement Specialist will support the Urban League of Hampton Roads’ role in the Regional Maritime Training System Initiative, specifically the Waves of Opportunity Program. This position is responsible for managing participant onboarding, conducting initial assessments, and ensuring seamless integration into the Regional Maritime Training Program. The specialist will guide participants through the intake process, connect them to relevant support services, and monitor their engagement and progress.

Schedule: Part-Time; 20 Hours Per Week 
Compensation: Compensation is competitive and includes potential for performance-based adjustments.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Manages participant intake and initial assessments. 
  • Ensure smooth onboarding into career services. 
  • Maintain accurate participant records and track progress using the case management system. 
  • Assist in processing and delivering support services, ensuring timely issuance of support services to meet grant wraparound service goals. 
  • Monitor engagement and facilitates communication between participants, Career Coordinators, and key partners. 
  • Ensure timely issuance of support services to meet wraparound service goals. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support program success. 

Qualifications & Skills 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage and support diverse participants. 
  • Goal-driven professionals with a results-oriented mindset. 
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with SLATE and Monday.com is a plus. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. 
  • A proactive and client-centered approach to addressing participant needs. 
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to help identify and reduce obstacles to participant success. 
  • Strong commitment to workforce development and participant success. 
  • Experience in community engagement, program coordination, or a related role is strongly preferred. 
  • Familiarity with workforce development programs and case management systems is preferred. 
  • High school diploma or GED required. 

Physical Requirements 

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, and standing during events. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds as needed.
