Promoting Healthier Futures: ULHR Brings Vital Resources to AIM Students

At the Urban League of Hampton Roads, we believe access to trusted health information is a cornerstone of equity. On April 16, our Health Team brought that belief into action at the Community Resource Fair hosted by the Aviation Institute of Maintenance in Norfolk.

Throughout the event, we connected with students to share resources and build relationships grounded in wellness, respect, and accessibility. Our conversations covered HIV prevention and awareness, including an overview of our Ryan White case management services, as well as guidance on COVID-19 protection, sexual health, and mindful nutrition. Each interaction was an opportunity to meet students where they are and ensure they know where to turn for support.

We also began forming new relationships with several mission-aligned organizations in attendance, including GoCommute, NAMI Coastal Virginia, and Volunteer Hampton Roads. These connections represent promising opportunities to collaborate on future community initiatives that support holistic well-being and equitable access to services.

This event was one more step in our ongoing commitment to reduce health disparities and ensure that young adults — particularly those preparing for careers and independence — have the tools they need to thrive. When we show up with care and consistency, we not only inform, we empower.
