Job Title: Career Coordinator (Internships) – Waves of Opportunity Program
Reports To: Program Manager
Job Summary: This position is a grant-funded role and is contingent upon continued funding availability. The Career Coordinator will support the Urban League of Hampton Roads’ role in the Regional Maritime Training System Initiative, specifically the Waves of Opportunity Program. This position is responsible for connecting participants with internship opportunities, building employer relationships, and supports participants throughout their experience. The coordinator will collaborate with the career services departments at Norfolk State University, Hampton University, and Elizabeth City State University to coordinate internship placements.
Schedule: Full-Time
Compensation: Compensation is competitive and includes potential for performance-based adjustments.

Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate internship placements for students at Norfolk State University, Hampton University, and Elizabeth City State University, collaborating with employers and university career services to align opportunities with student career goals.
- Assist with applications, interview preparation, and workplace readiness.
- Track internship progress and pro.
- Maintain employer relationships to expand opportunities.
- Process, issue, and track internship-related support service requests daily.
- Ensure timely issuance of support services to meet grant wraparound service goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support program success.
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Goal-driven professional with a results-oriented mindset.
- 2+ years of experience in internship coordination or workforce development.
- Strong employer engagement and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and experience with Monday.com or similar tracking tools is a plus.
- Experience in community engagement, program coordination, or a related role is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with workforce development programs is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, and standing during events.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds as needed.
