Urban League and Walmart host a book bag giveaway for over 500 students
Excited students painted their faces, participated in games, and ate hot dogs and chips while anxiously awaiting their new colorful book bags. Richard Bowling Elementary School students appreciated the opportunity to receive free book bags for a second year through a special collaboration with the Urban League of Hampton Roads and Walmart. Employees from Walmart led the families in a cheer to motivate them before receiving the free school supplies.
City Councilwoman Mamie Johnson, along with School Board members Dr. Noelle Gabriel (chair), Carlos Clanton (vice chair), and Tanya Bhasin, greeted students and parents while distributing book bags to over 500 students.
