The Urban League of Hampton Roads Plans Big Celebration in Honor of 40th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Community Leaders Awards

Hampton Roads Leaders to be Honored at the Event on January 15, 2024

NORFOLK, VA (September 15, 2023) – ‘Save the Date’ — The Urban League of Hampton Roads will host the 40th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Community Leaders Awards on Monday, January 15, 2024, at 8 AM at the Virginia Beach Convention Center. Presented by Dollar Tree, this year’s in-person breakfast will honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and recognize dedicated leaders who make significant contributions to the Hampton Roads community.

“Our 40th Annual MLK Community Leaders Awards Breakfast promises to be a spectacular occasion of history and celebration for the Hampton Roads community,” said Gilbert Bland, President and CEO of the Urban League of Hampton Roads. “Not only are we commemorating a significant milestone and anniversary of one of Hampton Roads’ signature networking events, but also continuing to recognize and honor the work of individuals whose contributions exemplify service to our community and demonstrate the values modeled by Dr. King.”

Dr. Marcia Conston, President, Tidewater Community College and Dr. Gaston, President, Norfolk State University will serve as Honorary Co-Chairs for the 40th Annual MLK Celebration. April Woodard, Emmy nominated Co-Host of Coast Live, a daily lifestyle show on WTKR in Norfolk, will serve as the event emcee.
