As an auxiliary of the Urban League of Hampton Roads, ULHRYP works to advance the mission of economic empowerment, social equality, and leadership development for our community.

Who We Are
ULHRYP brings together a diverse network of young professionals committed to personal growth, civic engagement, and professional development.
We represent a wide array of industries, backgrounds, and skill sets, all united by a common purpose: creating positive change in Hampton Roads.
By supporting the Urban League of Hampton Roads, we work to uplift our communities through a combination of advocacy, mentorship, and hands-on service.
Our mission is to support the Urban League of Hampton Roads in promoting and sustaining economic empowerment, equality, and social justice for African Americans and other underserved communities. Through our programs and events, ULHRYP provides opportunities for young professionals to connect, learn, and lead as they make an impact in their careers and communities.
What We Do
Professional Development
ULHRYP offers workshops, seminars, and networking opportunities designed to help young professionals advance in their careers and develop critical skills. We believe in equipping our members with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed in a competitive job market.
Community Service
Service is at the heart of what we do. ULHRYP partners with local organizations, schools, and community initiatives to address key issues in Hampton Roads, including education, housing, and financial literacy. Together, we strive to create tangible, positive changes in our neighborhoods.
Advocacy and Civic Engagement
ULHRYP is committed to amplifying the voices of young professionals in civic matters. From voter registration drives to public policy discussions, we empower our members to take an active role in shaping a more equitable future for all.

ULHRYP hosts a range of events that allow members to connect with like-minded individuals, foster meaningful relationships, and celebrate cultural heritage. Our events bring together a vibrant network of young professionals who are passionate about building a strong, supportive community.
Recent Projects: The New Wave Podcast
The Urban League of Hampton Roads’ Young Professionals Marketing & Creatives Committee is launching a new podcast that explores what Black history, legacy, and impact look like in our region today.
Hosted by Dana Duckworth, a DEI champion and community leader with a passion for fostering inclusive spaces, this series will feature conversations with educators, entrepreneurs, creatives and others shaping Hampton Roads. Known for her engaging leadership style and expertise in people operations and advocacy, Dana brings dynamic storytelling and thought-provoking discussions to every episode.
From unsung heroes to leaders creating change today, we’re bringing past and present together to inspire action. And we just released our first episode featuring Creatives for Virginia!
